What brand of clothing do you wear?

That question has been one often posed by other black people to me, I always wondered why SOME africans and black people in general seem to CARE so much about clothing brands and all. I personally think it is has to do with BRAINWASHING that corporations do to ingrain the "importance" of logo's as a status symbol. It seems people truely believe that YOU ARE WHAT YOU WEAR...meaning that individuals think that if they have new sneakers or what not that this "magically" makes them a "good" person or if they buy a new dress somehow people will not notice their bitchiness. People, PLEASE WAKE UP from this DREAM. Regardless of the race/gender...Stop being so shallow-minded and allowing corporations to dictate ENTIRELY the person they think you are and SHOULD be. The sense of UNIQUENESS is also FALSE because MOST things are produced in MASS, so listen sister/brother that dress/those shoes are not "original" and "one of a kind"....people are being sold a FALSE notion of psuedoindividuality that doesn't EXIST. I'm not saying it is wrong to buy new clothing etc I, myself do so on OCCASION but stop believing this somehow improves your personality, really it doesn't.
